The Group publish 3 Walk Programmes per year: April - July, August - November & December - March.
Leaders will be happy to give advanced information about walks, telephone numbers are given but please note that telephone inquiries should not be made after 22.00 hrs / 10.00 pm. Please note also that it might be necessary to make late changes to the route in the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. All walks usually include a refreshment stop, walkers should bring their own drink for mid-morning stops, lunch stops on all day walks are usually near a pub unless otherwise stated; "Pub Stop" indicates stop for a drink only, bring your own packed lunch for consumption before we reach the pub, "Pub Lunch" indicates stop for lunch purchased at the pub.
Transport: Parking is available at or near the start of the walk unless otherwise stated, a charge being made in some cases. On some walks, mainly to more distant locations, we meet at a central point and share cars for the onward journey; normal practice is for passengers to make a contribution of £3 minimum towards the costs of the journey. London walks generally start at a railway station. Many local walks can also be reached by public transport although this is not always possible; enquiries about local services can be made at 0845-484950 for rail information or 0871-200-2233 for details of local buses.
Weather: Walks will normally take place what ever the weather, however leaders do have Committee authority to cancel or revise walks at short notice if conditions are sufficiently severe as to make traveling hazardous, i.e. Thick Fog or Heavy Snow. In the event of any walk having to be altered or cancelled, this will where possible be advised on the Group website &/or via email to those members on the the group email list. It must be appreciated that this will not always be possible where alterations are made at very short notice. If in any doubt contact the walk leader before setting out.
Disclaimer: Participation in Ramblers Association walks is at ones own risk, neither The Ramblers Association nor the walk leader can accept responsibility for any loss or injury sustained on a walk. In the eventof an accident or similar incident an Incident Report Form should be completed by the walk leader and forwarded to Ramblers Head Office via the Group Secretary.
Dogs: In common with the policy adopted by most groups it is regretted that dogs cannot be accommodated on the Basildon Greenway Groups walks, other than Guide and Registered Assistance Dogs by prior arrangement with the walk leader.
