The Basildon & Greenway Group is a local Ramblers group, covering the countryside around Basildon.

We’re a friendly bunch who meet every Tuesday morning for a relaxed walk—usually around 5–6 miles, and led by a Ramblers Group trained walk leader. Most walks are circular, with the occasional longer or point-to-point route to mix things up a bit. Our walks cover many parts of Essex, so there’s always something new to explore.

"Our group is named after the beautiful 32-mile Basildon Greenway, created by Basildon Council in 1998—and we love making the most of the lovely countryside right on our doorstep.

You don’t need to be super fit or experienced—just enjoy getting outdoors, having a chat, and meeting new people. It’s a great way to boost both your physical and mental wellbeing.

We usually start from free local car parks, many of which are easy to reach by public transport too. During the year we try to cover a wide range of walks across our area including occasional canal and park walks in London.
